Brogue Furniture by Alexena Cayless

Using shoe leather, Harris tweed and traditional leather techniques, Designer Alexena Cayless has created the beautiful Cheaney Chair and co-ordinating Brogue Footstool. The chair is part of the 'Fly to Tip' collection and was originally found on the street before being reupholstered and handcrafted by Northamptonshire's Cheaney Shoes.

I saw this doing the blog rounds quite a few months back, but never knew who it was made by until it was exhibited at 100% Design last week. As a massive Chesterfield fan I am delighted to see that it is a UK manufacturer so the reality of actually purchasing one of these design beauties is a possibility! Made from cast concrete by Edinburgh based Gray Concrete this unique Chesterfield Sofa is suitable for both interior and exterior usage. WANT! WANT! WANT!

Visi house shaped magazine

This cool house shaped trim caught my eye at Magculture. To celebrate the 50th edition of the South African interiors magazine Visi, a limited edition run was produced with cropped corners to replicate the pitched roof of the cover photograph. What an ingenious and simple way of grabbing attention!

Mr Coupland's spool artwork

As a hoarder of reels and reels of multi coloured thread, I fell instantly in love with this beautiful artwork by Mr. Coupland found on The Jealous Curator's blog. Featuring 143 hooks to hold random coloured spools of thread, this is one of many inspirational artworks found in the spectacular home of Canadian writer & artist Douglas Coupland via the New York Times.
